Entry Instructions
Overview
- Entries for the 2024 book will open on July 11, 2024!
- Entries accepted through October 20, 2024 at midnight PDT!
- Entry via online submission only.
- Entries may be color or black-and-white!
- Unlike many other juried publications, you retain all copyrights to your images and written materials. LensWork is granted one-time only publication rights.
- New this year! All subscribers to LensWork will receive this book whether or not you enter. This printed publication will be an expanded (more pages) issue of LensWork #170, Dec 2024.
If you are not a subscriber to LensWork, you can still enter, and books will be available to you to purchase. We will have discount prices for pre-publication. Unlike in past years, you will not receive a book automatically — which has allowed us to lower the entry fee substantially.
- New this year! For the first time ever, we will be publishing selected work in both the printed issue #170 of LensWork and as an expanded downloadable PDF with lots more images and projects!
- Complete submissions that are “ready-to-publish” are required
- Entry form: Use this link to our online Entry Form.
Three types of entries!
Each entry submitted must include either: Single images (up to three) for $30, or; Two three-image "trilogies" for $30, or; a Seeing in SIXES project for $30. Same price for any of these formats — you choose your strongest work! Choose your format!
3 — Single images (up to three per entry)
2 — Three-image "Trilogies" projects (two per entry)
1 — "Seeing in SIXES" (one 6-image project per entry)
Image specifications
- Image files should be flattened (no layers) and must be 8-bit files, either RGB or grayscale mode images.
- Images should be unsharpened, if possible. If they are already sharpened, please indicate so to prevent us from over-sharpening your images.
- Images need to be a minimum of 3400 pixels on the long side. PPI is not important because we'll adjust for our needs in our prepress workflow. Just be sure they are 3400 pixels on the long side.
- Color space Adobe RGB (1998) is recommended.
- We prefer JPG (saved with maximum quality), but can accept Photoshop PSD files, or TIF files, if necessary. Other formats will not be accepted for submission.
Title and Captions
- No titles or text needed. Just images! We would, however, suggest that a title for a Seeing in SIXES project usually makes the project better.
Entry fee
- Choose your entry format! All entries are the same price ($30) regardless of the format:
- You have single images? You can enter up to three images for a single entry fee of $30
- You have three-image "trilogies" like we published in 2022? You can enter 2 "trilogies" projects for a single entry fee of $30.
- You have a fantastic "Seeing in SIXES" project you'd like to enter? You can enter a single Seeing in SIXES project (obviously 6 images) for a single entry fee of $30.
- There is no limit on how many entries you can submit. For example, you could enter 3 single images for $30, two "Trilogies" projects for $30, and a "Seeing in SIXES" project for $30. Each entry will be reviewed individually regardless of how many entries you make. Each photographer can appear in the final publications only one time.
- Entry fee of $30 is paid using the link in the Entry Form to our online store.
